These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of the Geotic mobile application, website, and related services (the "Service"). You must explicitly agree to these Terms before signing in to the app. If you already have a session, we may require you to accept the current Terms before continuing to use app features. If you do not agree, do not proceed. You can still read our legal documents, sign out, or request account deletion. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information; agreeing to these Terms does not grant device permissions or replace separate consent where required.
Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old, or the higher minimum age required in your country, to use Geotic. If you are under the age of legal majority where you live, you must have permission from a parent or legal guardian.
Your account
You sign in through Apple or Google and choose a public username. You are responsible for activity under your account, for keeping access to your authentication provider secure, and for providing accurate support information when requesting account assistance. You may not impersonate another person or create an account for abusive or unlawful purposes.
Location-based access
Geotic lets users read geochats from any location. Writing is available only when current location data satisfies the relevant geozone rules. Location results can be delayed, inaccurate, or unavailable. You must not falsify, manipulate, or bypass location checks.
Your content
You retain ownership of messages, profile text, avatars, and other content you submit. You grant Geotic a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, process, transmit, and display that content only as reasonably necessary to operate, secure, improve, and provide the Service. This license continues for content retained in conversation history after account deletion, with your public identity anonymized as described in the Privacy Policy.
You represent that you have the rights needed to submit your content and that its use by Geotic under these Terms will not violate another person's rights or applicable law.
Prohibited conduct
Geotic has zero tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users. You must not post, upload, or share content that is threatening, harassing, hateful, discriminatory, sexually exploitative, pornographic, or otherwise abusive or illegal. These rules apply to messages, avatars, usernames, biographies, and other content you submit. We may remove violating content and restrict, suspend, or terminate accounts responsible for violations.
You may not use Geotic to:
- Threaten, harass, stalk, exploit, or unlawfully discriminate against others.
- Publish illegal content, sexual content involving minors, or content that violates privacy, publicity, copyright, trademark, or other rights.
- Spam, deceive, impersonate, distribute malware, or interfere with the Service.
- Scrape, reverse engineer, probe, overload, or attempt unauthorized access to accounts, systems, or data except where applicable law expressly permits it.
- Manipulate device location, message delivery, notifications, or other technical safeguards.
Service changes and availability
Geotic is under active development. We may add, change, suspend, or discontinue features and may correct or remove content or accounts when reasonably necessary for security, legal compliance, or reliable operation. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, delivery of every notification, or continued availability of a particular geozone.
Account suspension and deletion
You may delete your account from Settings. We may restrict or terminate access when you materially violate these Terms, create risk for users or the Service, or when required by law. Sections that by their nature should survive termination, including content licenses, disclaimers, and limitations of liability, will survive.
Third-party services
Geotic relies on services supplied by Apple, Google, Cloudflare, Expo, MapTiler, and infrastructure providers. Their services may be governed by separate terms and can change or become unavailable independently of Geotic.
Disclaimers
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of uninterrupted operation, accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. Map, geozone, location, message, and profile information should not be treated as emergency, safety, navigation, or professional advice.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Geotic will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, loss of data, loss of access, or harm arising from user content, location inaccuracy, third-party services, or inability to use the Service. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded.
Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms as the Service changes. Each published version has its own permanent address and effective date, and previous versions remain available. When we require acceptance of an updated version, the app will ask you to agree before you continue. We will not treat merely continuing to use the app as explicit acceptance of a newly required version. If you decline, you can sign out or request account deletion. We will provide additional notice where required.
